  • Priming Miniatures with Acrylic Gesso An archive of the original article from a website page that no longer exists. N.B.: Don't buy the Liquitex BASICS gesso ... get the Liquitex Professional gesso (easily purchased at Michaels). Yes, the BASICS is only 70% the cost of the professional, but the grind of the toothing pigment in the professional is MUCH finer and more suitable for miniatures. Also, you CAN use both the black and white professional gesso through an airbrush. Thin it 1:1 with Liquitex Airbrush Medium (or whatever airbrush thinner you use ... I've never seen the Airbrush Medium in the stores and had to order it on Amazon), and crank the airbrush pressure up to 30 psi. Leaves a buttery smooth primer layer through the airbrush.
